presented by Dr. Ziad Abdul Wahab Abdullah, one of the faculty members of the Human Rights Law Branch. It addressed the importance of critical thinking and its role in enhancing the quality of scientific research and raising the level of university dissertations and theses.

The workshop highlighted the concept of critical thinking and its effectiveness in writing doctoral dissertations and master’s theses, as one of the essential skills that a researcher needs in building solid scientific research based on analysis, discussion, and objective evaluation of information and scientific sources.

The workshop also addressed the most prominent scientific thinking skills that a researcher should possess, including analysis, comparison, and inference, as well as the necessity for the researcher to possess an independent intellectual style that enables him to discuss scientific ideas and opinions objectively and to form his own research vision while preparing his dissertation or thesis.

The workshop also touched upon the most prominent difficulties and obstacles facing critical thinking in scientific research, particularly those related to dealing with scientific sources, and the mechanisms for documenting and referencing them correctly, in line with the scientific principles and rules followed in writing university research and dissertations.

In the context of addressing these difficulties, the workshop emphasized the importance of scientific communication skills and their role in developing the researcher’s abilities, by encouraging postgraduate students to read extensively and diversely, and to raise cognitive questions that stimulate thinking and analysis and push the researcher to delve deeper into his research topic.

The workshop also stressed the importance of direct and continuous communication with the scientific supervisor and benefiting from his expertise, information, and guidance, in a way that contributes to overcoming research difficulties, developing the researcher’s skills, and achieving the desired scientific benefit in preparing doctoral dissertations and master’s theses according to solid scientific and methodological foundations.
