On Tuesday, November 8, 2022, the Private Law Branch of the College of Law at the University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis on the effect of frozen egg fertilization on the provisions of lineage/analytical study, part of which was attended by Assistant Professor Dr.
The thesis presented by the student Othman Mahmoud Matar in the private law branch dealt with the impact of fertilization of frozen eggs on the provisions of lineage because of their importance in marital life in particular and society in general, as modern medicine was able through Continuous experiments suggest that he discovers a cure for infertility, so the chances of childbearing become available through artificial fertilization, which stems from freezing the eggs, and thus the couple obtains offspring. However, this issue raises legal, legal and social problems regarding proving the lineage of the child resulting from the implantation of the fertilized egg.
The thesis aims to show that Islamic Sharia is able to absorb contemporary medical developments and issues as it is suitable for every time and place, and the process of freezing eggs is governed by a set of controls and instructions that centers and people must follow to ensure the process of artificial fertilization and what is related to it properly. It is legitimate and legal to prevent it from being manipulated. Surplus fertilized eggs from the need for artificial fertilization are an important source of medicine, as it opens up new methods of treatment through conducting experiments and research on them.
The discussion committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Hamid Sultan Ali, with the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Nadia Khair El-Din Aziz, Assistant Professor Dr. Taha Saleh Khalaf, and the membership and supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Qais Abdel Wahab Issa.
