The College of Agriculture and Forestry holds its fourth international agricultural conference
Under the auspices of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and under the supervision and presence of Prof. Dr. Qusai Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi, President of the University of Mosul, and headed by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younis Al-Allaf, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Forestry, the college held its fourth international agricultural conference, under the slogan “Agricultural sustainability is a way to reduce climate change and achieve Food security, on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, in the hall of the Grand Theater of the University. The opening ceremony of the conference was attended by Prof. Dr. Mounir Salem Taha, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, Administrative Assistant to the President of the University, and Messrs. deans of faculties as well as heads of departments And a number of faculty members and students.

Research accepted by 280 from various Arab and foreign countries, 123 of which were research by professors and academics from the University of Mosul, while the remaining research was for researchers from 13 countries, namely, Jordan – Egypt – Syria – USA – Russia – Libya – Hungary – Saudi Arabia – Nigeria – Poland – Pakistan – Netherlands – Iran.
The opening ceremony of the conference began with the playing of the national anthem and then recitation of verses from the Holy Quran
Followed by the speech of the Presidency of the University of Mosul, delivered by Prof. Dr. Mounir Salem Taha, Scientific Assistant to the President of the University. After that, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younis Al-Allaf delivered the speech of the Deanship of the College of Agriculture and Forestry at the University of Mosul, followed by the speech of the representative of the bodies supporting the work of the conference, Mr. Suhail Ziyad Khattab, in which he spoke about the agricultural projects that it implements. Organizations specialized in the agricultural field in Iraq, after which a documentary film was shown about the college since its establishment, embodying the stages of its development and the march of its scientific departments, and an artistic presentation was presented on stage for students from the College of Fine Arts. The presentation dealt with the history and civilization of Mesopotamia over the ages and times, after that Shields of the conference were presented to a number of officials in the governorate and concerned departments and retired professors from the faculty. The celebration concluded with an introductory scientific lecture via electronic space delivered by Mr. Walid Sabri Naseer, a researcher specializing in the agricultural field. The university president also opened a scientific and artistic exhibition and another handicraft exhibition. College on the sidelines of the conference.
The research presented for the conference was distributed within a curriculum that includes 6 physical and virtual sessions for a period of two days. Its axes dealt with the environment of plant production and plant protection, the sustainability of food and animal resources, agricultural machinery technology and agricultural sustainability in soil and water.
It also touched on extension technologies and agricultural economics, as well as the forest environment and treatment of pollution and climate change.
The conference aimed to develop the Iraqi agricultural reality and pay attention to sustainable agricultural development in light of climate changes and the impact of desertification on agricultural lands, as well as achieving food security.
It is noteworthy that the submitted research will be published in the IOP journal, which is indexed within the Scopus repository.
