Scientific Seminar: (A Forensic and Legal Perspective on the Phenomenon of Animal Abuse in Iraqi Society)

The Department of Pathology and Poultry Diseases at the College of Veterinary Medicine, in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit, organized a scientific seminar titled “A Forensic and Legal Perspective on the Phenomenon of Animal Abuse in Iraqi Society” on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
The seminar was presented by:
Prof. Dr. Karam Hashim Al-Mallah – College of Veterinary Medicine
Assist. Prof. Dr. Ru’a Khalil Ibrahim – College of Law
Lecturer Maysaa Mohammed Qasim – College of Education for Pure Sciences
The seminar included several important topics, most notably:
The phenomenon of animal abuse from the perspective of veterinary forensic medicine.
Legal protection of animals and the safety of their bodies.
Psychological roots and underlying disorders behind animal cruelty.
The seminar aimed to highlight the phenomenon of animal abuse and its various forms from forensic and legal perspectives, as well as to explain ways to address and reduce it, contributing to raising community awareness about the importance of animal welfare and protection.
This event comes within the framework of achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
