The College of Veterinary Medicine Organizes a Workshop on “Civil Defense and Public Safety”
In implementation of the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and within the framework of professional development and qualification programs for newly appointed staff members, the College of Veterinary Medicine – Administrative Services Division, in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit, organized a workshop entitled:
“Civil Defense and Public Safety”
on Tuesday, 5 May 2026.
The workshop was delivered by Mr. Raafat Jalal Omar and Mr. Harith Younis Elias.
The workshop aimed to:
Enhance awareness of civil defense and public safety principles.
Introduce preventive measures against accidents and hazards.
Train participants on appropriate responses during emergency situations.
Develop rapid response and emergency management skills.
Promote a culture of safety within the community.
This workshop forms part of a series of training and professional development programs organized by the College for newly appointed staff members, with the aim of strengthening their technical and teaching competencies and enabling them to perform their academic responsibilities in a manner consistent with the requirements of modern education and digital transformation.
Furthermore, this workshop falls within the efforts of the College of Veterinary Medicine to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
