Workshop Entitled: “The Importance of Afforestation in Restoring Environmental Balance”

As part of a series of workshops aimed at advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Agricultural Committee at the College of Veterinary Medicine, in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit at the University Presidency, organized a workshop entitled:
“The Importance of Afforestation in Restoring Environmental Balance”
on Sunday, 10 May 2026.
The workshop was delivered by Lecturer Dr. Ali Abdulwahab Mahmoud from the Department of Veterinary Public Health.
The workshop aimed to:
Highlight the importance of afforestation and its role in environmental protection.
Raise awareness among participants regarding the role of trees in reducing pollution and improving air quality.
Clarify the contribution of afforestation to combating desertification and climate change.
Promote a culture of preserving and expanding green spaces.
Encourage students and members of the community to participate in voluntary tree-planting campaigns.
Demonstrate the importance of afforestation in supporting biodiversity and enhancing the aesthetic and civilizational appearance of urban environments.
This workshop was organized in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly:
SDG 13: Climate Action
SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
through strengthening environmental awareness, encouraging environmentally sustainable agricultural practices, and promoting the expansion of green spaces.
