Training Course: “Safety Procedures for Handling Laboratory Animals”

 

The College of Veterinary Medicine, in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit, organized a training course titled “Safety Procedures for Handling Laboratory Animals”, held from 14–18 June 2026.

 

The course aimed to:

 

  • Introducing participants to the principles of biosafety when working with laboratory animals.
  • Develop proper skills for safely and humanely restraining and transporting laboratory animals.
  • Prevent injuries and zoonotic diseases shared between humans and animals.
  • Familiarize participants with personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper methods of use.
  • Promote adherence to ethical guidelines and scientific standards in the use of animals in research and experimentation.

 

This course contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well‑Being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
