Master’s Thesis Defense
A Master’s thesis defense was held at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Microbiology, for the thesis entitled:
“Conventional and Molecular Diagnosis of Eimeria spp. in Cattle and Buffalo”
The thesis was presented by Mr. Ahmed Abdulwahid Ibrahim under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Manal Hammadi Hassan, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
The examination committee consisted of:

The study aimed to identify Eimeria species infecting cattle and buffaloes of different ages and sexes from various regions of Nineveh Province using conventional microscopic diagnostic methods. In addition, histopathological examination of cattle intestinal tissues was performed to identify the developmental stages of Eimeria. Molecular diagnostic techniques were also applied to severely infected cattle samples to confirm the microscopic identification of Eimeria species.
The study identified 12 species of the genus Eimeria in cattle and buffaloes through microscopic examination. Furthermore, four genetic isolates of the parasite were successfully registered in the GenBank international database, contributing to the advancement of specialized scientific research in this field.
Following the candidate’s scientific and confident defense of the thesis and a comprehensive discussion by the examination committee, the thesis was approved.
