A Master’s thesis titled “Dissemination of T‑Lymphocytes and Potential Immune‑Escape Mechanisms of Bovine Skin Squamous Cell Carcinoma Regarding MHC‑1 and PD‑L1 Expression” by the student Sabah Mohammed Sameen, supervised by Asst. Prof. Wasim Hanna Kroumi, was defended on Thursday, September 10, 2026.

The study investigated cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma in cattle, focusing on the relationship between tumor differentiation and the expression of PD‑L1, MHC‑1, and CD8 cytotoxic T‑cells, as well as the mechanisms of immune evasion associated with these markers. The results showed that PD‑L1 expression increased markedly as tumor differentiation decreased, while MHC‑1 expression and CD8 T‑cell numbers declined with poorer differentiation. The study concludes that elevated PD‑L1 alongside reduced MHC‑1 and CD8 T‑cells represents a potential immune‑escape mechanism in this type of tumor, making these markers clinically valuable predictors of tumor behavior.
After the student confidently defended his thesis and addressed the committee’s questions, the thesis was approved.
