The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed the doctoral thesis tagged “Tourism Industry and its Impact on Achieving Sustainable Development – A Study in Selected Countries”

Part of it was attended by the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Qusai Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi, and the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Thaeir Ahmed Saadoon Al-Samman.

The aim of the current study… Which was submitted by the student “Khaled Arhil Shehab” in the Department of Economics to: Identify the relationship between tourism and economic development and the role of tourism marketing in the tourism industry, and also aimed to identify the strategies followed by the countries of the study sample to develop the tourism sector, the obstacles faced by the tourism industry in achieving sustainable development, the impact of the tourism industry on sustainable development, and the contribution of the tourism industry in achieving sustainable development.
The study reached a number of conclusions, the most important of which were: that the tourism industry is an integrated system based on the interaction between the tourist and the host municipal environment, and the mutual influence between them, and the essence of this industry depends on multiple factors affecting tourism activity, including natural phenomena and human factors.

The discussion committee was headed by Prof. Dr. Thaer Mahmoud Rashid from the University of Baghdad and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Ibrahim Adeeb Ibrahim, Assistant Professor Dr. Fouad Farhan Hussein from the University of Tikrit, Assistant Professor Dr. Ruqaya Khalaf Hamad and Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Wajih Mahdi and the membership and supervision of Prof. Dr. Anmar Amin Al-Barwari
