Coinciding with the International Day of Forests, the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Mosul launched a tree-planting campaign on Thursday, 12 March 2026, across the corridors and surrounding areas of the college. The initiative was carried out under the supervision of the Science and Technology Gardens Department at the University Presidency, as part of efforts to support environmental initiatives, promote awareness of environmental conservation, and reinforce a culture of sustainability within the university campus.
During the campaign, 26 trees were planted along with a number of seasonal plants, adding both aesthetic and environmental value to the college’s surroundings. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to expanding green spaces and creating a healthy and sustainable campus environment.
The campaign was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Sinan Zuhair Mohammed Jameel, along with the assistant deans, heads of academic departments, and a number of officials from administrative divisions and units. Faculty members, staff, and students of the college also actively participated in the campaign, demonstrating a strong spirit of cooperation and shared environmental responsibility among members of the college community.
This initiative aligns with the university’s commitment to supporting United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 13 (Climate Action), Goal 15 (Life on Land), and Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), through enhancing vegetation cover and improving the university environment.
Through such environmental initiatives, the College of Administration and Economics reaffirms its commitment to contributing to sustainable development and strengthening environmental awareness among students and university staff, thereby reinforcing its academic and societal role in environmental protection and community service.
