The Department of Industrial Management at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul Discusses a Higher Diploma Thesis on Evaluating Renewable Energy Alternatives

The Department of Industrial Management at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, held the defense of a Higher Diploma thesis on Sunday, March 15, 2026, in Discussion Hall No. (1) at the college.
The thesis, entitled “Evaluating Renewable Energy Alternatives,” was presented by the student Mohammed Zaki Younis Al-Taweel.
The study aimed to evaluate and compare renewable energy alternatives represented by hydropower and solar energy, and to identify the decision areas related to each alternative, particularly since both options could potentially be adopted in the Mosul Dam project.
The study highlighted several key findings, including:
The possibility of relying on dual-dam systems and pumped-storage stations to store electrical energy, as they represent a renewable solution that can be effectively integrated with solar energy.
The integration of renewable energy sources contributes to improving energy production efficiency and achieving sustainability in vital projects.
The thesis was examined by a committee consisting of:
Prof. Dr. Ali Abdul Sattar Al-Hafidh – College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul as a chair, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hani Mohammed – College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul as a member, Assist.
