The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul Discusses a PhD Dissertation on the Impact of Industrial Policies on International Competitiveness

The University of Mosul / College of Administration and Economics – Department of Economics witnessed, on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in Discussion Hall No. (2), the defense of a PhD dissertation entitled:
“Measuring and Analyzing the Impact of Industrial Policies on the International Competitiveness of a Selected Group of Countries”
Presented by the student: Ghaidaa Mohammed Nafi’ Shaheen.
The study aimed to analyze the relationship between industrial policies and international competitiveness in Southeast Asian countries, relying on reliable quantitative indicators, in addition to measuring the impact of the exchange rate in enhancing competitiveness.
The key findings of the study highlighted:
The exchange rate is a strategic and direct factor in determining the competitiveness of Southeast Asian countries.
Its impact is clearly reflected through its role in supporting industrial exports and attracting foreign direct investment.
