“Bridging Knowledge Between Universities and the Labor Market” — A Scientific Workshop by the Department of Financial and Banking Sciences at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, with the Participation of the Banking Sector

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics, Professor Dr. Sinan Zuhair Mohammed Jameel, the Department of Financial and Banking Sciences at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, a scientific workshop for employers entitled:
“Bridging Knowledge Between Universities and the Labor Market: Towards Practical Solutions to the Challenges of the Banking Sector in Iraq”
The workshop took place at 10:00 AM in the seminar hall of the Department of Financial and Banking Sciences.
The workshop was attended by several representatives of the banking sector in the city of Mosul, including:

Harith Mohammed Thanoon / Rafidain Bank – University of Mosul Branch
Dhefaf Waleed Ali / Manager of the Agricultural Bank
Dr. Sinan Hussein Ali / Agricultural Bank
Mustafa Adnan Al-Fakhri / Agricultural Bank
Mohammed Ahmed / Iraqi Islamic Bank
The workshop was also attended by a number of faculty members from the department, and the session was chaired by the Head of the Department of Financial and Banking Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Uday Salem Ali.
The workshop addressed the current state of the banking sector and the challenges it faces, as well as issues related to accessing banking data and the importance of strengthening cooperation between academic institutions and banks in a way that contributes to advancing scientific research and addressing practical challenges.
Discussions also covered mechanisms for joint cooperation between both sides, summer training programs for department students, and emphasized the importance of continuing meetings, scientific workshops, and field activities to enhance integration between universities and the labor market.
This workshop comes as part of the efforts of the College of Administration and Economics / University of Mosul to strengthen partnerships with banking sector institutions and to align academic outputs with practical realities, contributing to the development of the banking and economic environment in Iraq.
