The Department of Business Administration at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, Discusses a Higher Diploma Thesis on Decent Work and Workplace Well-being

The Department of Business Administration at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in Discussion Hall No. (1), the defense of a Higher Diploma thesis entitled:
“The Impact of Decent Work on Enhancing Workplace Well-being: An Exploratory Study of the Opinions of a Sample of Employees at the Mosul Municipality Directorate”
by the student: Al-Mundhir Iskandar Mahmoud.
The study aimed to identify the impact of decent work on enhancing workplace well-being through an exploratory survey of the opinions of a sample of employees working at the Mosul Municipality Directorate. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach with a field-oriented nature, using a questionnaire as the primary tool for data collection. The measurement instrument included dimensions of decent work (fair wages, equal opportunities, occupational safety and health, social protection, and work-life balance), as well as dimensions of workplace well-being (positive affect, reduction of negative effects, and professional achievement).
The main findings of the study include:
There is a significant positive correlation and impact of decent work on enhancing workplace well-being.
Improving working conditions and providing a fair and safe organizational environment contribute to raising levels of job satisfaction.
Decent work plays a role in reducing occupational stress and enhancing the sense of achievement and organizational belonging.
