Academic Discussion on “Circular Supply Chains and Their Role in Enhancing Sustainable Performance” at the Department of Industrial Management – College of Administration and Economics – University of Mosul

On Monday, August 25, 2025, the first discussion hall at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, hosted the defense of a master’s thesis submitted by the student Sarmad Thaer Rajab from the Department of Industrial Management, entitled:

“The Role of Certain Circular Supply Chain Activities in Supporting Sustainable Performance: An Exploratory Study in the State Company for Automotive and Equipment Industries / Babylon Battery Factory.”

 

The study sought to provide practical insights and recommendations enabling the factory to improve its environmental, economic, and social performance through the adoption of circular supply chain activities and the promotion of circular economy practices aimed at reducing waste and preserving natural resources.

 

The results revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between the application of circular supply chains and sustainable performance at the Babylon Battery Factory. This underscores the importance of integrating these activities into production processes to raise sustainability levels and strengthen competitiveness.

 

The session was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Sinan Zuhair Mohammed Jameel, accompanied by the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Salem Khalil Khalid, and the Associate Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Abdulrahman Zuhair Abdulqader.

The subject of this thesis aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), emphasizing efficient resource management and waste reduction, thereby contributing to environmental, economic, and social sustainability alike.
