Accounting Department at University of Mosul Hosts Specialized Workshop on “Green Accounting” to Support Sustainable Development

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics, Prof. Dr. Sinan Zuhair Mohammed Jamil, the Accounting Department held a scientific workshop titled “Green Accounting” on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
The workshop was organized under the direct follow-up of Prof. Dr. Ziad Hashim Al-Saqqa, Head of the Accounting Department, and took place at 1:00 PM in Lab (1).
The session was led by Prof. Dr. Luqman Mohammed Ayoub and Assistant Prof. Dr. Muthanna Faleh, who explored advanced themes focusing on Green Budgeting as a modern approach to developing the federal Budget, and Sustainable Goals by aligning financial policies with environmental dimensions to achieve long-term sustainability.
The event saw active participation from the department’s faculty members. The discussions were characterized by academic rigor and in-depth interventions that reflected the growing interest in integrating sustainability into modern accounting frameworks. There was an interactive dialogue and a dedicated Q&A session where attendees exchanged ideas on institutionalizing green practices.
The workshop concluded with a set of strategic recommendations aimed at accelerating the transition toward Green Accounting within institutional environments, ensuring that environmental costs and benefits are a core part of financial decision-making.
