The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Mosul Concludes Its First Student Guidance Conference with a Sustainable Vision to Enhance Mental Health and Quality of Life

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sinan Zuhair Mohammed Jameel, Dean of the College of Administration and Economics, the College concluded the activities of its First Student Guidance Conference entitled:

“Sustainability of Psychological and Community Giving: Integrating Student Activities in Supporting Sustainable Development and Improving Psychological Quality of Life”

The conference was held over two days, Wednesday and Thursday, April 29–30, 2026, in Hall No. (2).

The conference was organized in cooperation between the University Psychological Counseling Division and the Student Activities Division at the College, with the participation of the University’s Department of Psychological Counseling. It was attended by a wide official and academic audience, led by the Dean of the College and members of the College Council, alongside the Director of the University Psychological Counseling Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Alaa Al-Din Ali Hussein, as well as a large number of faculty members, staff, and students.

The conference commenced with an opening speech delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ashti Abdul Sattar Al-Mazouri, followed by the Iraqi national anthem and a recitation of Al-Fatiha in memory of Iraq’s martyrs. This was followed by a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Asst. Prof. Dr. Haitham Hashim Al-Khafaf. The opening session also included a speech by the Dean of the College, a presentation video highlighting the activities of the Psychological Counseling Division, the Student Activities Division, and the Sustainable Development Committee, followed by a speech from the Director of the Psychological Counseling Department.

As part of the scientific program, the first day featured a session chaired by Asst. Prof. Dr. Salem Khalil Khaled and rapporteur Asst. Prof. Dr. Kubra Mohammed Taher, during which four research papers were presented and discussed. This was followed by the open of a charity bazaar in support of community initiatives.

On the second day, two scientific sessions were held. The first was chaired by Prof. Dr. Doaa Noman Al-Husseini with rapporteur Asst. Prof. Dr. Safaa Idris Abboudi, and the second was chaired by Asst. Prof. Dr. Omar Farouk Younis with rapporteur Lecturer Assistant Muntaha Ahmed Hamed. Both sessions were dedicated to discussing students’ graduation research projects across several research groups, marked by distinguished academic engagement.

The conference concluded with presentations of various volunteer and artistic initiatives, along with inspiring success stories that reflected the tangible impact of student activities in supporting mental health and strengthening community cohesion.

This conference embodies the commitment of the College of Administration and Economics / University of Mosul to its leading role in promoting psychological counseling and sustainable development concepts, and in enhancing the integration between student activities and academic programs, thereby contributing to building a university environment that supports individuals academically, psychologically, and socially.
