The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, witnessed on Thursday, July 30, 2026, the discussion of the Master’s thesis entitled “The Role of Monetary and Fiscal Policy in Controlling Money Supply Growth Rates,” presented by the student Haneen Wisam Jassim Mohammad, in Discussion Hall No. (1).

​The study aimed to analyze the development of money supply growth in the Iraqi economy during the period (1995–2024), measure the impact of monetary and fiscal policy instruments on money supply growth rates, and analyze the nature of short-term and long-term relationships between the studied variables, thereby contributing to enhancing monetary stability and supporting the efficiency of economic policy management.

​The study reached several conclusions, most notably that money supply growth in Iraq relies heavily on international reserves and net foreign assets associated with oil revenues. It also demonstrated that achieving monetary stability requires effective coordination between monetary and fiscal policies, given a long-term equilibrium relationship between the studied variables and the economy’s ability to correct imbalances over time. The results further confirmed that Central Bank tools, despite their importance, are not sufficient on their own to control money supply growth, but rather require integration with fiscal policy and efficient management of oil resources.
