The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed a Master’s thesis entitled “The Impact of Trade Liberalization on Agricultural Sector Productivity: An Econometric Comparative Study Among a Group of Developing and Developed Countries,” presented by the student Sabreen Muhammad Ramadan Ahmed Al-Badrani, on Thursday, September 17, 2026, in Discussion Hall No. (1).

​The study aimed to measure the trade liberalization index in the economy and track its evolution over time, as well as characterize the trends in agricultural output growth during the study period and link them to changes in trade policies across a group of developing and developed countries, in order to demonstrate the impact of trade openness on agricultural sector productivity.

​The study arrived at several conclusions, most notably establishing a long-term equilibrium relationship between the relative importance of agricultural output and all independent variables in both developing and developed countries. The results also indicated that agricultural trade openness positively and significantly impacts agricultural output in the long term for both groups, although the magnitude of this effect was greater in developed countries.
