From the Slope to a Green Expanse… College of Administration and Economics at the University of Mosul Plants 28 Trees, Launching a New Phase to Expand Its Green Space

Professor Dr. Sinan Zuhair Mohammed Jameel, Dean of the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Mosul, conducted a field tour to follow up on the rehabilitation and afforestation work of the slope located behind the deanship building. He was accompanied by Dr. Abdulrahman Zuhair Abdulqader, Associate Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Mr. Saad Aeed Khaleel, Director of the Administrative Services Division.
The afforestation efforts followed prior stages involving the removal of large quantities of debris, cleaning the site, leveling the ground, preparing the soil, and installing a drip irrigation system. The first phase commenced with the planting of 28 Presidential Fig trees—both yellow and black varieties—procured from the Nineveh Agriculture Department, selected for their adaptability to local soil conditions and rapid growth as recommended by agricultural experts.
The second phase is scheduled to extend across the areas behind the buildings of the Marketing Management, Financial and Banking Sciences, and Economics departments, reaching the garden that connects these departments to the main deanship building. The project aims to transform the surrounding grounds into a greener, more visually appealing university environment, marking the first time these areas behind the retaining wall have been planted since the college’s founding.
Speaking to the Media and Government Communication Division, the Dean reaffirmed the leadership’s commitment to expanding green coverage, stating: “We made a pledge to make the college’s grounds and surrounding areas greener and more beautiful.”
The works were carried out under the supervision of the Presidency of the University of Mosul – Department of Administration / Gardens Division, with direct oversight from Engineer Rand Muyassar Aziz and afforestation unit head Engineer Muadh Majeed Ismail, alongside the supervisor of the garden maintenance company.
