University of Mosul – College of Medicine Hosts the Second Meeting of the Nineveh Health Directorate Board Mosul – June 29, 2026

As part of strengthening joint cooperation and institutional integration between the health and academic sectors in the governorate, the College of Medicine at the University of Mosul hosted the second meeting of the Nineveh Health Directorate Board on Monday, June 29, 2026.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Delshad Abdullah Shenkali, Pharmacist, Director General of the Nineveh Health Directorate. It was attended by Prof. Dr. Humam Ghanim Ibraahim Zubair, Dean of the College of Medicine – University of Mosul [the host institution], along with the Deans of Al-Batool College of Medicine at the University of Mosul and the College of Medicine at the University of Nineveh.
Also in attendance were the Assistant Director General of the Health Directorate, members of the Board of Directors, officials from the Nineveh Health Directorate, as well as the Vice dean for Scientific affairs and The Vice dean for Administrative and financial affairs of the College of Medicine – University of Mosul.
The meeting addressed several key topics, most notably:
– Enhancing Health and Academic Integration: Discussing ways to develop joint coordination between teaching hospitals and medical colleges to improve the efficiency of services provided to citizens. The meeting also explored mechanisms to support the training of medical students and resident doctors, and to provide them with a suitable educational environment within health institutions.
– Developing the Health Sector: Reviewing the Health Directorate’s strategic plans aimed at upgrading the quality of medical services and developing infrastructure across Nineveh Governorate.
The attendees emphasized that this meeting represents a fundamental pillar for unifying visions and efforts between the Health Directorate and the universities. This is to ensure the health sector is supplied with distinguished competencies, and to develop therapeutic and preventive infrastructure and services in the governorate.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the administration of the Nineveh Health Directorate expressed its thanks and appreciation to the Deanship of the College of Medicine at the University of Mosul for its hospitality and organization. They affirmed the continuation of such periodic meetings to achieve common goals.
The meeting also contributes to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals, most notably:
Goal 3, Goal 4, and Goal 17.
