College of Medicine

Two meetings of the accreditation committees were held in this week in the College of Medicine. On Sunday 10/4/2022, the Head accreditation committee of the College of Medicine held its eighth periodical meeting headed by the Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof Dr Basil Mohammednather Saeed, and in the presence of the Scientific and Administrative Vice-Deans and all other members of the committee.The extent of progress made in some aspects of program accreditation issued by the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges in Iraq was discussed. The discussions focused on the theme of the message where Dr Aseel Basem on behalf of the head of the mission committee presented a draft of the final mission, and it was approved to be presented to the college’s council for the purpose of approval. The extent of progress in other themes was discussed, such as the theme of program monitoring, the theme of student assessment, and the theme of renewal for the purpose of standing on the latest developments in the themes. In addition to that, the Staff Committee submitted the final proposals for the teaching staff’s development program. At the end of the meeting, the dean stressed the need to complete the self-assessment report on the national accreditation on time. In a related context, the Curriculum Committee held its periodical meeting on Monday, 11th April 2022 headed by the Dean of the College of Medicine ( the head of the committee) and in the presence of the scientific vice-dean and all other members of the committee. The discussions concentrated on the necessity of holding joint meetings between the clinical and basic departments as well as between the teaching staff of the symmetric subjects. During the meeting, curricula questionnaires were discussed as well as some changes to the number of curricula units and other issues related to the committee’s work.
