The National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges (NCAMC) evaluation team has completed its visit to evaluate the College of Medicine/University of Mosul

A national evaluation team made up of professors from various Iraqi medical colleges performed a week-long visit to the College of Medicine, University of Mosul, under the direct supervision of the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges. This visit is a significant step in the College of Medicine’s quest for program accreditation.

The team started their mission by holding an expanded meeting with Dr. Munir Salim Taha, the university Vice-Chancellor for scientific affairs, Prof. Dr. Basil Muhammadnather Saeed, the dean of the College of Medicine, the Vice-Deans for scientific and administrative affairs, as well as the directors and officers of the relevant scientific and administrative university departments and college divisions. The national team continued after that, as it evaluated the extent to which the college met the requirements of the nine accreditation areas. In addition to inspecting all of the college’s records and physical assets, and conduction of interviews with directors of educational hospitals, divisional and unit officials, students, heads of departments, and stakeholders of the college’s services.

The team also conducted an inspection of the teaching hospitals, which serve as the clinical training facilities for college students.

Notably, the College of Medicine completed the self-study report by the beginning of 2023, as required by the NCAMC for programmatic accreditation. Additionally, at the end of 2023, a second self-assessment report was completed in compliance with the requirements of the Jordanian Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions (AQACHEI), which is recognized by the International Federation for Medical Education. The AQACHEI evaluation team visited the College of Medicine in October 2023.

Thus, the University of Mosul College of Medicine has completed the application procedure for program accreditation on both a national and international levels.

The Deanship of the College of Medicine pledges to the University of Mosul, headed by Prof. Dr. Qusay Kamaladdin Al-Ahmedy, to always be the first to obtain the highest ranks among medical colleges in Iraq and the world.
