Conclusion of the Clinical Psychology Course at the University of Mosul
On Friday, November 8, 2024, the College of Medicine at the University of Mosul concluded its Clinical Psychology course, held under the patronage of University President Professor Kusay Kamal al-Din al-Ahmadi and supervised by Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Basil Saeed. This year-long program aimed to train medical and psychological professionals to work with individuals affected by psychological trauma. It included thirty-two participants from the Universities of Mosul and Nineveh, as well as staff from the Health and Education Directorates of Nineveh.
The program encompassed seven training modules covering the following topics:
1. Trauma clinics and epidemiology
2. Neurobiology, memory, and trauma psychopharmacology
3. Pathological psychological expressions in response to trauma
4. Complex trauma, borderline personality, and dissociation
5. Expressions and consequences of psychological trauma
6. Trauma in children, adolescents, and families
7. Emergency care and interventions
The course was conducted in cooperation with the University of Lorraine in France and the Francophone University Agency, and University of Nineveh, bolstering the University of Mosul’s international academic relations. An intensive five-day practical training component featured the latest scientific protocols for managing trauma cases.
This program exemplifies the University of Mosul’s commitment to supporting the local community, particularly in mental health care for those in need. It also opens new avenues for academic collaboration with international institutions, enhancing the university’s reputation both locally and globally.
