A Thesis of the Iraqi Council of Family Medicine on the Risk Factors of Anaemia among Pregnant Women

It was discussed at nine o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, 7th July 2020 in the hall of the scientific hall a thesis of the Iraqi Council, specialization in Family Medicine (fourth stage) Zahraa Th. Hamid on the risk factors of anaemia among pregnant women. The discussion committee consisted of the Head of the Department of Family and Community Medicine, assistant Prof Dr Walid Gh. al-Taie (Chairman), Vice -Dean for Scientific Affairs, assistant Prof Dr Humam Gh. Ibrahim (member), and the Official of the Training Centre for Family and Community Medicine (Mosul Training Centre) assistant Prof Dr Anmar Borhan Saeed Aldewachi (Member), and the Rapporteur of Dept. of Family and Community Medicine, assistant Prof Dr Zaid M. Yassin Shindalah (supervisor).

The thesis discussed about 300 pregnant women who are visiting primary health care centres (they were the study sample). It aimed to identify the risk factors for anaemia among pregnant women in the city of Mosul. It found that the main effect of anaemia was on a twin pregnancy, and that inadequate consumption of iron-rich foods. After discussion, the committee’s decision was read, which included accepting the thesis with minor amendments, and considered it fulfils the requirements of publication.
