Master Degree Thesis about the effects of antipsychotics on gycemic controlA Viva Voce for Master degree student in Pharmacology Shahad M Khalil had been run today, Thursday, Nov. The 19th at the College of Pharmacy about the effects of including Third generation antipsychotics in the therapeutic protocol of schizophrenia on glycemic control. The study have recruited 29 schizophrenic patients of either genders with age range between 18-55 years stable on Olanzapine therapy with Aripeprazole as an adjuvant therapy for patients under the study. Patients were followed up for 3 weeks of including Aripeprazole as an add on therapy and checked for changes in blood Sugars. The study have showed the positive impact of including Aripeprazole as an adjuvant therapy of schizophrenic patients on blood sugars and glycemic control and recommeded to consider this drug in routin therapy of patients with schizophrenia. The Assessing Board encompassed Prof. Imad Abduljabbae Thanoon (as Chairman), Prof. Nazar A. Naji (member), Asst. Prof. Zena A. Abdulmajeed (member), Lecturer Mosab M. Khalaf (principal Supervisor) and Asst.Prof.Mahfooth S. Hassan (co-supervisor). The Viva have witnessed the attendence of College of Pharmacy staff and Postgrad Students.
