The College of Political Science attended the ceremony for the University of Mosul to hold a UNESCO chair

The College of Political Science participated in the ceremony of the University of Mosul obtaining a UNESCO chair under the auspices of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi and under the supervision and presence of Prof. Dr.Kossay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmady the President of the University of Mosul through the active participation of the college’s teachers through the membership of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Tariq Mohammad Tayeb Zahir in the UNESCO chair and the participation of the college’s professors in the scientific and coordinating committees within the activities of the international conference marked (Education for Peace in Iraq – Building Peace through Education) in cooperation with UNESCO in Iraq and under the title (Rejecting Violent Extremism and Promoting a Culture of Peace) for the period from 28-30 October the second 2022.The conference aimed to formally announce the establishment of a UNESCO Chair at the University of Mosul, entitled “Rejecting Violent Extremism and Promoting a Culture of Peace.” It brought together specialists and interested people who work in the field of education for peace and stability and rejecting violent extremism through education in Iraq, as well as deepening positive feelings, increasing solidarity and opportunities for coexistence to confront All forms of violent extremism.The first dialogue session, which was held on the stage of the university’s grand theatre, was moderated by Prof. Dr. Tariq Mohammad Tayeb Al-Qassar Dean of the College of Political Sciences, member of the UNESCO Chair Committee at the University of Mosul, during which he hosted the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Munir Salem Taha, Member of the UNESCO Chair Committee, and Mr. Santosh Khatri, Director of Education, UNESCO Iraq, as well as Judge Raed Hamid Hussein, President of the Court of Appeal of Nineveh, and Father Raed Emmanuel Adel, dealt with topics on the role of education in building peace and the foundations and status of education for peace in Iraq.
