College of Political Sciences
Political Science is one of the most intellectually rich and wide-ranging academic disciplines, encompassing diverse fields of knowledge. At the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, the program is designed to provide an exceptional educational experience. The program places the individual and society at the center of its academic focus, whether in terms of major political theories or the analysis of public policies and decision-making mechanisms within states. The program attracts considerable interest, as some students are drawn to the breadth of the field and the diversity of its issues, while others view it as a gateway to specialized study in a particular area. All students are given the opportunity to specialize in one of the available study tracks, such as International Relations, Comparative Politics, and Iraqi and Arab Politics, beginning at the end of their first year.

Providing comprehensive academic education in Political Science that emphasizes critical and analytical thinking and addresses issues and challenges across all subfields of Political Science.

Preparing students to pursue diverse career and academic pathways after graduation, including enrollment in postgraduate programs, participation in professional qualification and training programs, or obtaining entry-level positions in state institutions, international and regional organizations, and other relevant bodies.

Providing intensive training in quantitative and qualitative political analysis skills, the use of information technology, digital research techniques, and specialized political databases, in addition to field training in monitoring and studying political phenomena.

Developing students’ written and oral academic communication skills, enabling them to formulate political arguments and present their research findings in accordance with established scientific standards.

Enriching students’ educational experience through opportunities for university-based research, field training in government institutions and international organizations, and academic exchange programs with sister universities and reputable academic institutions.
Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science
The Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science program at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, is accredited at Level 6 of the Iraqi National Qualifications Framework (NQF), in full compliance with the standards and regulations established by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and qualifies graduates to progress to Level 7 (Master’s degree.

Meeting the age and grade requirements specified in the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for admission within Iraq.

Applying through the officially approved electronic platforms within the specified application periods
To obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, students must successfully fulfill all graduation requirements, including:

Completing all required credits (240 ECTS credits), including all compulsory and elective courses specified in the curriculum.

Meeting the minimum graduation requirements in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Mosul.

Complying with all academic regulations governing assessment, academic progression, and graduation, as approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Mosul.
Recognition of prior learning and the transfer of academic credits are not considered except in cases of student transfer or course equivalency, in accordance with the regulations and instructions issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Mosul.

Graduates will be able to understand the fundamental concepts and theories of Political Science.

Graduates will be able to interpret different political systems, constitutional institutions, and governmental institutions.

Graduates will be able to analyze theories of international relations, foreign policy, and international security.

Graduates will be able to analyze political data and information and utilize them in scientific research.

Graduates will be able to write reports and policy papers addressing state affairs at both the domestic and international levels.

Graduates will be able to apply negotiation, dialogue, and crisis management skills in political contexts.

Graduates will be able to assume responsibility for professional decision-making within the scope of their specialization.
The Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, is aligned with Level 6 of the Iraqi National Qualifications Framework (INQF). This level defines key domains encompassing knowledge and understanding, skills, and values, responsibility, and autonomy, based on the updated guide issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the description of academic programs and courses, which emphasizes the importance of linking academic programs to learning outcomes, particularly in programs adopting the Bologna Process. These are as follows:

Knowledge and Understanding: The graduate possesses broad and specialized knowledge of the fundamental concepts, theories, and principles of Political Science, with the ability to understand political systems, international relations, public policies, and strategic and security issues.

Skills: The graduate possesses analytical, research, practical, and communication skills that enable them to analyze political phenomena, conduct research, evaluate policies, use data and digital technologies, and address complex political problems.

Political Science is considered a vital field of study that provides graduates with a deep understanding of governance structures, international relations, and public policy analysis. Graduates acquire analytical, research, and language skills that qualify them to work in various fields, including the diplomatic corps, government institutions, and the media.
