The Head of the Postgraduate Studies Division at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, attended a scientific workshop organized by the Department of Scientific Affairs on the mechanisms of selecting modern research titles

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals; the Department of Scientific Affairs at the Presidency of the University of Mosul held its first specialized workshop entitled: “Mechanisms of Selecting Modern Research Titles – Hot Topics using the Research Horizon Navigator – WOS tool,” on Thursday, 2 October 2025. The workshop was attended by the Scientific Assistant, Professor Dr. Abdul Rahim Ibrahim Jassim, along with related university scientific leaders. Representing the College of Political Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Raghad Nazar Saeed participated.

The workshop discussed identifying modern research trends (Hot Topics) and using the Research Horizon Navigator tool to determine promising research fields, as well as enhancing the capacities of faculty members and researchers to select impactful titles that contribute to improving the quality of scientific publication in reputable journals.

The workshop aimed to advance the research movement at the university, increase opportunities for publishing research in internationally recognized high-ranking journals, and strengthen the university’s position in academic forums locally, regionally, and internationally.

A faculty member from the College of Political Science, Lecturer Dr. Ali Bashar Bakr, participated as part of the UNESCO Chair delegation from the University of Mosul and presented his research paper on “The Role of Education in Reducing Youth Recruitment into Extremism Pathways” at an international conference held at the University of Baghdad
