Guidance Course on Suicidal Ideation and Negative Thoughts

Under the supervision of the respected Associate Professor Dr. Suhaib Khalid Jassim Al-Taie, Dean of the College of Political Science, the University Psychological Counseling Unit organized an awareness-driven seminar series as part of the guidance course titled: “The Escalation of Suicidal Ideation and Negative Thoughts Among University Youth.” The event took place on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the College’s Conference and Discussion Hall.
The sessions featured the following speakers:

Lecturer Dr. Kawthar Hassan Ghazi: “Preventive Measures Against Suicide Phenomena Among University Students.”

Lecturer Dr. Mohammed Zuhair Abdul Karim: “Prevention and Intervention: Strategies for Curbing the Spread of Suicidal Thoughts Among University Students.”

Lecturer Shahbaa Hikmat Elias: “Methods and Risks Associated with the Phenomenon of Suicide in Society.”

Assistant Lecturer Omnia Ibrahim Khalil: “The Rise of Suicide Cases in Developing Societies: Causes and Implications.”
The significance of this course lies in its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically:
