A Training Course on Enhancing Civic Participation in Decision-Making

Under the supervision of the respected Associate Professor Dr. Suhaib Khalid Jassim Al-Taie, Dean of the College of Political Science, the Human Rights Unit at our college—in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit, the Human Rights Division at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, and the Continuing Education Unit at our college—held a training course titled: “Enhancing Civic Participation in Decision-Making and Rights Protection.” The course spanned three days, running from May 4 to May 6, 2026.

The course proceedings featured several lectures:

  • A lecture by Associate Professor Dr. Saadi Ibrahim Hussein, titled: “The Civilized Individual as the Foundation of the Civilized State.”

  • A lecture by Lecturer Saja Fattah Zaidan, titled: “Digital Transformation and Civic Participation: From Cyberspace to Political Influence.”

  • A lecture by Assistant Lecturer Samah Suhail Bahnan, titled: “Mechanisms of Civic Participation in Public Policy-Making and Their Impact on Protecting Rights and Freedoms.”

  • A lecture by Assistant Lecturer Omniah Ibrahim Khalil, titled: “The Role of Civic Participation in Promoting Human Rights at the International Level.”

The significance of this course lies in its response to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly (Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 5: Gender Equality, and Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
