In pursuit of Sustainable Development Goal 16, a joint scientific research paper by the Dean of the College of Political Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Khalid Jassim Al-Tale, co-authored with Assistant Lecturer Khudayda Ziad Shamo, entitled “Efforts to Document and Prosecute the Crime of Genocide Against the Yazidis,” was published in the Journal of Anbar University for Law and Political Sciences, Volume 16, Issue 3, September 2026.

The research examined the efforts undertaken to document and prosecute the crime of genocide committed by ISIS against the Yazidi community in Iraq in 2014, with a focus on the importance of collecting evidence and firsthand testimonies from survivors and victims, documenting the violations committed, and examining the role of national and international non-governmental organizations and United Nations agencies in supporting documentation and legal accountability efforts.
