In pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals, Goal Four: Quality Education, Goal Sixteen: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and Goal Seventeen: Partnerships for the Goals, and in cooperation with the Studies and Planning Department/ Sustainable Development Unit at the University of Mosul Presidency and the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Political Science, Professor Dr Ziyad Samir Zaki, Head of the Public Policy department, delivered a scientific lecture entitled “Criteria for Selecting Appropriate Journals and Verifying Their Credibility” on Wednesday, 14 October 2026.

The lecture aimed to introduce the scientific criteria for selecting suitable academic journals for research publication, explain the mechanisms for verifying their credibility and reliability, familiarize participants with recognized scientific databases and indexing platforms, and highlight ways to avoid fake and predatory journals. These efforts contribute to enhancing the quality of scientific research and increasing its chances of publication in reputable scholarly journals.

The lecture was held under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr Suhaib Khalid Jasim Al-Ta’i. It was attended by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr Younis Muayyad Younis, along with a number of faculty members.
