College of Political Sciences

Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Kossay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmedy, the honorable President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Assistant Prof. Dr. Tariq Mohammed Tayeb Al-Qassar, the Dean of the College of Political Science, the College organized its eighth annual scientific conference titled “Umm Al-Rabiein in the Face of Climate Extremism” in collaboration with the Popular Aid Organization (PAO) and the Office of the Right Council of Representatives.

The conference took place on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at the Umm Al-Rabiein Hall and covered various objectives and axes:

Conference Axes:

1. The first axis focused on research and scientific and field studies to confront climate change in Nineveh.
2. The second axis explored the role of institutions and organizations in addressing climate change.

Conference Objectives:

• Keep pace with international and regional developments regarding climate change.
• Examine the role of international, regional, and local organizations in developing solutions for climate change.
• Future preparation for adopting cooperative policies to adapt to the effects of climate change.
• Build a societal institutional system for collaboration, planning, and the development of programs and financing to mitigate or prevent the impacts of climate change.
• Contribute to environmental rehabilitation and development efforts in Nineveh by addressing root causes and taking necessary measures to mitigate environmental degradation, climate change, desertification shocks, and droughts through awareness-raising and building institutional and societal partnerships to combat climate change.
