The International Relations Branch hosts its scientific seminar titled “The Impact of Identity on International Relations”

Under the guidance of the esteemed Dean of the college, the Branch of International Relations organized a scientific seminar titled “The Impact of Identity on International Relations.” Given that the study of identity has become exceedingly important today, as the world witnesses the formation of new identities, the resurgence of old ones, and the breakdown of existing identities, identity has become a driver of change.

The seminar addressed a series of questions, such as: Is changing identity the only factor that can explain foreign relations? What is the relationship between identity, interest, and power? When does the impact of identity in international relations increase, and when does it diminish? How do states deal with an identity crisis? Is identity a basis for the emergence of fundamentalist movements?

The scientific session was moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Marwan Salim Ali, with Assistant Professor Dr. Jasim Mohammed Taha serving as the session’s rapporteur.
