Dean of the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul Was a Member of the Examination Committee for a Master’s Thesis on the Effectiveness of the UNDP in Combating Corruption

A master’s thesis was discussed at the College of Law, University of Mosul, entitled: “The Effectiveness of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Combating Corruption and Promoting Foreign Investment: Iraq as a Case Study,” submitted by the student Muneer Ramzi Sultan, on Thursday, 8 May 2025.

The examination committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Raqeeb Mohammed Jassim, and included several faculty members, among them Assistant Professor Dr. Sohaib Khalid Jassim Al-Taie, Dean of the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul.

The thesis aimed to examine the inverse relationship between corruption and foreign direct investment, demonstrating that higher corruption levels are associated with reduced inflows of foreign capital. It further evaluated the strategic approaches employed by the United Nations Development Programme to counter corruption, including improving governance, enhancing transparency, and pursuing legislative reforms.

The defense session was attended by Professor Dr. Rafal Hassan Hamed, the University’s Administrative Assistant, along with the deans of the Colleges of Law and Science, Professor Dr. Abdulazeez Ramadan Ali and Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, in addition to several specialized faculty members and a group of postgraduate students.

At the conclusion of the defense, the committee announced its decision to accept the thesis and grant the student the Master’s degree.
