The Women’s Affairs Unit at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Committee at the College of Political Science, holds a joint workshop on the Amendments to the Iraqi Personal Status Law of 2025

The Women’s Affairs Unit at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Committee at the College of Political Science, organized the joint workshop titled: “Amendments to the Iraqi Personal Status Law of 2025 and Its Impact on Women’s Rights,” on Sunday, 22 June 2025. The workshop included a lecture delivered by committee member Assistant Professor Shahlaa Kamal Abdul-Jawad.
The aim of the workshop was to highlight the proposed amendments to the Iraqi Personal Status Law by shedding light on the reasons behind their proposal, their legal and social contexts, and ways to enhance scientific and objective dialogue about the future of family legislation in Iraq. These discussions are intended to reinforce the values of justice and equality in the mentioned law, which encompasses the protection of both individual and family rights.
The workshop was attended by the Head of the Unit, Lecturer Dr. Afraa Riyadh Mohammed, as well as liaison members from various colleges and a group of female staff members.
