The College of Political Science at the University of Mosul hosted an awareness workshop organized by the National Security Service, entitled “Combating Financial Electronic Fraud Crimes,” on Tuesday, 2 July 2025.
The workshop covered several key topics, including the definition of financial electronic fraud, the most common types currently spreading, and the methods used to steal financial data through electronic payment cards. It also discussed the citizen’s role in self-protection against becoming victims of such crimes. Practical steps to secure electronic cards were addressed, such as avoiding suspicious websites and links, along with mechanisms for reporting and cooperating with the relevant security authorities in the event of an attempted fraud.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness among electronic payment card users about the dangers of electronic fraud by promoting a culture of caution and self-protection.
This workshop is part of the national campaign titled: “Your Card… Your Safety,” which seeks to spread financial and security awareness among citizens and educate them about the risks associated with using electronic payment cards. These cards have become one of the most important tools for financial transactions in daily life, especially amid the rapid digital development witnessed in our Iraqi homeland as well as worldwide.
The workshop was attended by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Khalid Jasim Al-Taie, the scientific and administrative deputies, Assistant Professors Dr. Khairallah Subhan Al-Jubouri and Dr. Ali Hussein Yassin, as well as a number of college staff including faculty members and employees.
