Publication of a Scientific Research Paper by a Lecturer at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals — Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, and Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions — the Journal of Anbar University for Legal and Political Sciences has published a scientific research paper by Lecturer Dr. Kawther Hasan Ghazi, faculty member of the Public Policy Department at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, entitled: “Economic Policies and the Reduction of Violent Extremism in Iraq after 2003.” The paper appears in Volume 15, Issue 2 (September 2025).
The study highlights the complex and multidimensional relationship between economic policies and violent extremism. Economic factors play a pivotal role in shaping environments that may either foster or mitigate extremism. Policies that combat corruption, promote economic justice, create job opportunities, and improve public services can reduce the appeal of extremist ideologies. Conversely, policies that perpetuate corruption, poverty, and inequality can create fertile ground for extremism. Therefore, economic policies must form part of a comprehensive strategy to counter violent extremism.
Congratulations to the College on this distinguished scientific achievement. We wish all our faculty members continued success and sustainability in their scholarly efforts, God willing.
