The College of Political Science at the University of Mosul Holds a Workshop on the Role of Human Development in Enhancing Women’s Participation in Social and Political Positions

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, Goal 5: Gender Equality, the Women’s Affairs Committee of the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul held a workshop titled “Human Development for Enhancing Women’s Participation and Representation in Political and Social Positions” on Sunday, 12 October 2025.

The workshop discussed human development as an entry point to support women’s roles, focusing on the right to participate in elections, and the principles of equality and justice in decision-making—particularly in political participation and representation through the significance of women’s voices as a form of legal guarantee and practical implementation in this regard.

Lectures were delivered by a group of the college’s faculty members: Dr. Maha Ahmed Ibrahim (Head of the Committee), Asst. Prof. Shahla Kamal Abduljawad, Lecturer Hadeel Nawaf Ahmed, Asst. Lecturer Samah Suhail Behnan, and Asst. Lecturer Ilham Saeed Qadir.

The workshop was held under the supervision of the Dean of the College, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the University Presidency and the College’s Legal Affairs Division, and was attended by a group of staff members.
