Political Science College at the University of Mosul Organizes a Lecture on Legal Protection of the Environment During Armed Conflicts

In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, Goal Thirteen: Climate Action, and Goal Fifteen: Life on Land; the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul organized an awareness lecture entitled “The Legal Protection of the Environment During Armed Conflicts in Light of International Humanitarian Law”, on Thursday, 6 November 2025.

The lecture aimed to shed light on the importance of protecting the environment as part of the shared human heritage; to highlight the risks that ecosystems face during armed conflicts, and to review the international legal frameworks that regulate this protection.

The lecture was delivered by the instructor of the Public Policy Department, Ms. Sajida Farhan Hussein, on the occasion of the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict, which falls on November 6 of each year.

The event was held under the supervision of the Dean of the College and was attended by a group of the college’s staff members.
