An assistant professor at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, Dr. Tariq Mohammed Dhnun, delivered a lecture on the change in the perception of the nature of human rights as part of a workshop organized by the College of Nursing

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals—Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions—and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, the College of Nursing held an awareness-raising workshop entitled “The Change in the Perception of the Nature of Human Rights in the Twenty-First Century” on Thursday, 18 December 2025. The workshop consisted of a single lecture delivered by a faculty member of the Department of International Relations at the College of Political Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Tariq Mohammed Dhnun Al-Ta’i.

The lecture discussed the nature of human rights and the evolution of their perception across different historical periods. It analyzed the implications of the interrelationship between wars and the growing emphasis on sovereignty, human rights, and sustainable development, as well as the contradiction between declared and undeclared policies of states at both the domestic and foreign levels.

For its part, the College Deanship commended the distinguished efforts exerted by the academic staff in strengthening the cognitive and educational role of the university in service of humanity and society as a whole.
