The College of Political Science Participates in a Panel Discussion on the Law of Governorates Not Incorporated into a Region

Associate Professor Dr. Khairallah Sabhan Abdullah Al-Jubouri, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, participated in the panel discussion titled: “The Draft Law of Governorates Not Incorporated into a Region,” which was held at the Nineveh Governorate Council on Thursday morning, April 30, 2026.

The session was chaired by Dr. Ahmed Al-Hasoud, Chairman of the Nineveh Governorate Council, in the presence of several members of the Iraqi Parliament, alongside a select group of academics and specialists in constitutional law and local government. The panel discussion featured an overview of the law’s most prominent provisions and an in-depth discussion of its clauses, focusing on the powers granted to local governments and the operational mechanisms of governorate councils. The significance of this participation lies in its response to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly (Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals).
