In a step that aligns with global and national directions towards achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a new book has recently been published by Al-Furat for Publishing and Distribution (2026), titled: “Iraqi Policies and Strategies and Their Role in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals.”

The book is edited by Professor Dr. Hazim Hamad Musa and Associate Professor Dr. Marwan Salim Ali, faculty members at the University of Mosul – College of Political Science, with contributions from an elite group of academics from the same university and college. This publication serves as a practical roadmap and an essential reference for researchers, government institutions, and civil society organizations. It represents a qualitative addition to both the academic library and decision-makers, offering critical insights and actionable, practical strategies that contribute to improving the quality of life, as well as achieving stability and comprehensive development in Iraq.

The book consists of ten integrated chapters that detail the journey of sustainable development within the Iraqi environment. Through this work, the contributing researchers discuss core themes, most notably:

• Evaluating locally adopted economic, social, and environmental policies.

• Navigating challenges facing developmental dimensions and proposing strategic solutions to overcome them.

• Evaluating the role of national strategies in meeting present needs while securing the rights of future generations in accordance with United Nations standards.
