In pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals, Goal sixteen: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and Goal seventeen: Partnerships for the Goals, and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning/ Sustainable Development Unit at the Presidency of the University of Mosul; and in the presence of Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, with the participation of a number of officials and political, diplomatic, and academic figures, the activities of the Eighth Baghdad Dialogue Conference commenced on Friday, 21 August 2026. Representing the College of Political Science, Dr. Firas Mohammed Elias, Representative of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate – Nineveh Branch, chaired the conference’s second session, entitled: “Iraq and Neighboring Countries: Engineering Balances in a Changing Region.”

The conference discussed a range of regional and international issues, in addition to the political, security, and economic challenges facing the region, as well as ways to enhance dialogue and cooperation among its countries.

The conference witnessed the participation of Iraqi, Arab, and international figures to discuss issues of common interest and exchange views on regional and international developments.
