In pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals, Goal Sixteen: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and Goal Seventeen: Partnerships for the Goals, a joint research paper by faculty members of the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waleed Salim Mohammed, Mr. Mohammed Salih Shatib, and Assistant Professor Dr. Khairallah Sabhan Al-Jubouri, entitled “Socio-Political Dynamics and Their Impact on the Formation of Power–Society Relations in Divided Societies,” was published in the Danish Journal of Law and Political Sciences (JLPS), Volume 51, Issue 4, October 2026.

The research examined the dynamics of relations between state power and society in communities characterized by deep social divisions, highlighting the influence of ethnic, religious, linguistic, class-based, and ideological identities in shaping political and social interactions and their implications for political stability and institutional legitimacy. It also explored the roots of social divisions and the mechanisms through which they develop into political conflict, as well as the role of political elites and institutional arrangements in deepening or mitigating divisions. Furthermore, the study investigated the factors and mechanisms that facilitate the transition from confrontation and conflict to cooperation, thereby strengthening societal stability and social cohesion.

Congratulations to the College on this distinguished academic achievement. We wish all its faculty members continued success and further accomplishments in their academic and scholarly careers, in service to our country, city, and university. May God grant us success.
