Education and Academic Career:
– Bachelor of Laws / Beirut Arab University
– Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Sharia / Cairo University
– Postgraduate Diploma in Private Law / Cairo University
– Doctorate in Private Law / Cairo University (for her thesis on “Settlement and its Provisions in Sharia and Law”).
– Promoted to Professor 1997 Academic and Administrative Positions:
– Dean of the College of Law, University of Mosul, 2004
– Head of the Private Law Department, College of Law, University of Mosul
– Assistant Dean for Female Student Affairs, College of Sharia, University of Baghdad
– Chairperson of the Graduate Studies Committee, College of Law, University of Mosul
– Member of the Advisory Office, College of Law, University of Mosul
– Member of the Preparatory Councils for Discussing the New Civil Code Draft
– Member of the House of Wisdom Committee, Mosul Branch
– Founding Member of the Muslim Women’s Association
– She has taught at the Colleges of Administration and Economics and Law, University of Mosul, in addition to the Law Faculties at the University of Bahrain, Zarqa University, and the University of Jordan.
Academic Achievements:
– Supervised 15 Master’s theses and seven doctoral dissertations at the College of Law, University of Mosul, in addition to participating in the drafting of the Bahraini Civil Code.
Publications and Research:
– Six books in the fields of civil law, commercial law, and personal status law
– More than 40 published academic papers in her areas of specialization.
National and International Contributions:
– Representing Iraq in a meeting with Dr. Lakhdar Brahimi (UN envoy) on the night of her martyrdom, where she delivered a speech opposing the partition of Iraq.
Martyrdom and Legacy:
– Martyred with her husband (Munir Al-Khairou) in 2004 in a terrorist attack targeting their home in Mosul.
– She is considered a symbol of patriotism and the educated Iraqi woman, leaving an exemplary scientific and legal legacy.
May God have mercy on her soul and grant her a spacious place in heaven, and inspire her family, relatives, loved ones, and students with patience and solace. To God we belong and to Him we shall return.
– Daughter of Mosul and Mesopotamia, a legal scholar who dedicated her life to serving science and the nation.
