The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division at the College of Law held a specialized scientific symposium to discuss the phenomenon of addiction and ways to reduce it.

The symposium, titled **”The Dangers of Addiction to Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances and Means of Confronting Them,”** was held today, Sunday, March 8, 2026, in Dr. Amer Al-Jumard Hall at 10:00 a.m.
The symposium witnessed fruitful cooperation between several academic and security entities, including:
– The Department of Psychological and Educational Counseling at the University of Mosul Presidency.
– The Ninawa Universities and Institutes Security Center.
The symposium focused on highlighting the catastrophic effects of narcotic substances on the individual and society, with an emphasis on the following aspects:
– **The Psychological Aspect:** Analyzing the impact of addiction on mental and behavioral formation.
– **The Legal Aspect:** Clarifying the legislative frameworks for combating this phenomenon.
– **The Preventive Aspect:** Proposing effective means and mechanisms to confront the spread of drugs and fortify the university environment.
This symposium comes within a series of awareness activities adopted by the University of Mosul to contribute to protecting youth and enhancing societal awareness regarding contemporary security and health issues.
