The Dean’s Meeting Regarding the Latest Directives Related to Postgraduate Theses and Dissertations

The Dean of the College of Law at the University of Mosul has directed that postgraduate students be enabled to choose their research titles according to the scientific frameworks approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This came during an expanded meeting with postgraduate students, attended by a distinguished group of professors and heads of scientific departments, as part of the college’s strategy to establish transparency and remove academic obstacles facing researchers.

The meeting included an explanation of the mechanism for registering master’s theses and doctoral dissertations, as well as the adoption of a mechanism for publishing and circulating a list of proposed titles. Students are granted full freedom to choose a topic that aligns with their scientific passion, instead of the system of “pre-determined assignment” of research projects, ensuring the production of innovative legal texts that avoid repetitive patterns.

In a related context, the floor was opened for direct dialogue with students to listen to the challenges facing their research journey. Dr. Al-Khattabi, while answering inquiries, affirmed that “research freedom is accompanied by the responsibility to adhere to academic regulations,” stressing the need for strict compliance with standards of scientific rigor to ensure that research is produced at a level befitting the reputation of the esteemed college.
